The "Marly" sterling flatware from Christofle is based on a design from 1890. The model is named after Marly Castle, located near Paris, a summer hunting residence built for Louis XIV. "Marly" is the most richly ornamented model in the Christofle collection. The fine chasing of the plant decoration is typical of the Rocaille style which developed under Louis XV and emphasizes the richness and refinement of dining "à la française".
